Trade copying is often described as a simple process: replicate a trade from one account to another. In practice, doing that reliably involves much more.
Markets can change in seconds. Spreads widen around economic announcements, liquidity can disappear during major releases, and an unexpected headline can trigger volatility that no calendar could predict. Meanwhile, traders may be managing several accounts, brokers, platforms, and risk profiles at once.
MetaCopier’s latest features are built for that reality.
The platform now combines trade copying with AI-assisted account management, an integrated Economic Calendar, live Market News, automated News Filter and News Protection tools, and new controls for account targets, scheduled position management, and trade cooldowns.
Together, these additions give you more control over not only how trades are copied, but also when trading should be restricted and how existing exposure should be managed.
Manage MetaCopier Through Your AI Assistant
One of the biggest additions is the new MetaCopier MCP integration.
MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, gives compatible AI assistants a standardized way to interact with external applications and services. Once connected to MetaCopier, your assistant is no longer limited to answering general trading questions. It can work with information from your MetaCopier project, within the permissions you choose.
That means you can ask natural-language questions such as:
- “Are there any errors on my trading accounts?”
- “Why wasn’t this trade copied?”
- “Show me how my accounts performed this week.”
- “Which accounts currently have open positions?”
The context is what makes this useful. A general AI assistant can explain what a rejected trade means. An assistant connected to MetaCopier can help you investigate a rejection in your own project.
From analysis to action
The integration is not limited to reading information. Depending on the permissions you configure, an AI assistant can also take specific actions on your behalf, such as changing settings or opening and closing trades when you explicitly ask it to.
For traders managing larger MetaCopier environments, this creates a more direct workflow. Instead of moving through multiple screens to investigate a problem, you can potentially go from observation to diagnosis to action in one conversation.
Permissions remain central to the setup. Connecting an assistant does not mean giving it unrestricted access. If you mainly want help with monitoring and troubleshooting, read-only access may be enough. More advanced users can grant specific operational permissions where they make sense.

Bring Economic Events Into Your Trading Workflow
Economic announcements are among the most predictable sources of market volatility. Interest-rate decisions, inflation data, employment reports, and other macroeconomic releases can have an immediate effect on currencies and related markets.
The event may be scheduled, but the market’s reaction is not. A strategy that behaves normally under everyday conditions can produce very different results when spreads widen, prices jump, or liquidity briefly dries up.
MetaCopier’s new Economic Calendar brings that information directly into the platform.
You can filter events by currency and expected impact, then review previous, forecast, and actual results for additional context. Event times are shown in UTC, giving you one consistent reference across brokers, accounts, and regions.
Turn the calendar into an operational tool
A calendar is helpful when you remember to check it. It becomes much more useful when it fits into your existing workflow.
MetaCopier can send event reminders through Telegram, email, and the other notification channels configured for your project. You can also sync upcoming events with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook.
For example, if your strategies trade EURUSD and GBPUSD, you might follow only high-impact EUR, GBP, and USD events. Rather than repeatedly checking an external website, you can bring the events that matter into the same environment you use to manage your accounts.
The Economic Calendar is included with a MetaCopier subscription and becomes available once an account is connected.
Scheduled Events Are Only Half the Story
Economic calendars answer one important question: What is scheduled to happen?
They cannot answer another: What just happened?
Markets constantly react to information that was never scheduled for a specific time. Political developments, central-bank comments, company announcements, geopolitical events, and unexpected economic news can all move prices.
Market News complements the Economic Calendar by bringing financial headlines into MetaCopier, along with concise summaries and indicators of potential impact and sentiment.
You can filter news by currency or category to cut down on irrelevant information, bookmark articles for later, and receive notifications about high-impact developments through your project’s existing channels.
Calendar and news give you a broader picture
The distinction between these tools is simple:
- The Economic Calendar helps you prepare for known events.
- Market News helps you respond as new information develops.
Together, they offer a clearer view of the information surrounding a trading strategy. But information alone does not change how trades are copied. That is where News Filter and News Protection come in.
News Filter: Control New Entries Around Economic Events
Imagine that a master account opens an EURUSD trade shortly before a major economic announcement. Normally, the copier would reproduce that position on the follower accounts. But you may not want followers opening new positions during a period of expected volatility.
The News Filter lets you automate that rule.
Using data from the MetaCopier Economic Calendar, News Filter can temporarily block new market entries on affected symbols around selected announcements. You decide how long the restriction should apply before and after each event.
For example, you could prevent new EURUSD entries around selected high-impact USD events. When the configured window ends, normal copying resumes automatically.
Make the filter as specific as your strategy
Relevant news means different things to different traders. You can configure filtering by event impact, currency, and specific event names, and customize the timing for individual symbols.
That flexibility allows the filter to match your strategy instead of forcing every account and instrument into the same rule. You might apply stricter protection to one symbol while allowing others to trade as usual.
Closures can still be copied
News Filter blocks affected new entries, but it does not prevent trade closures from being copied. Risk-reducing actions from the master can still reach followers while new entries are restricted.
Optional notifications can also warn you before the filter becomes active. The aim is not to disconnect the copier whenever news approaches. It is to control which actions remain available during the event window.
News Protection: Manage Positions That Are Already Open
Blocking new trades only solves part of the problem. What happens when an account already holds a position before an important announcement?
That is the role of News Protection.
News Protection can automatically close selected positions before specified economic events and, if your configuration allows it, reopen them afterward. You remain in control of the timing.
The difference between the two tools is straightforward:
- News Filter controls whether new positions can be opened.
- News Protection manages exposure that already exists.
Reopening is more than a timer
A useful part of News Protection is that reopening does not have to depend on elapsed time alone. You can also account for conditions such as the current spread, how far the market has moved, and whether the master account still holds the original trade.
Suppose a position closes shortly before an announcement. Five minutes after the release, the spread is still unusually wide and the price has moved sharply. Reopening just because five minutes have passed may not make sense. Conditional reopening gives you more control over what happens next.
Use News Filter and News Protection as Separate Layers
The two features are related, but they solve different risk-management problems.
Imagine an account holding an EURUSD position ahead of a major US economic release. News Protection can handle that existing position according to your rules. At the same time, News Filter can stop new affected EURUSD positions from being copied during the event window.
That creates a clear sequence:
- Reduce existing exposure before the event, if required.
- Restrict new exposure around the event.
- Restore positions only when your conditions are met.
- Resume normal copying.
Instead of manually pausing copiers or watching every account, you can build your planned response to scheduled events directly into the copier configuration.
Overall Target: Set a Long-Term Account Objective
Risk Limits and Profit Targets are useful when a rule needs to operate within a set period. Not every objective, however, is daily, weekly, or monthly.
The new Overall Target provides an account-level target based on a fixed reference balance for the lifetime of the configuration. Unlike periodic targets, it does not reset each day, week, or month.
This is useful when your goal relates to the account’s broader performance rather than a recurring period. For example, you may want an account to continue operating until it reaches a specific overall threshold. Because the reference balance remains fixed, it does not move forward at the start of a new trading period.
Overall Target adds a longer-term layer of control alongside shorter-term Profit Targets and Risk Limits.
Scheduled Close & Reopen: Automate Predictable Trading Breaks
Not every unwanted exposure period is tied to an economic announcement. Some traders avoid holding positions over the weekend. Others prefer to stay out of overnight periods, rollover conditions, or certain recurring sessions.
The new Scheduled Close & Reopen feature is designed for those predictable breaks.
You can close positions automatically on a defined schedule and optionally reopen them later. Schedules can also be set for individual symbols, making the feature more practical for multi-asset strategies.
For instance, a strategy might trade throughout the week but avoid carrying selected positions over the weekend. Rather than relying on someone to intervene every Friday and Monday, you can make that routine part of the account configuration.
Trade Cooldown: Prevent Rapid Re-entry
Automated strategies can sometimes open several trades in quick succession. A position closes, and another opens immediately on the same symbol. That may be intentional, but some strategies need a minimum delay before the next copied entry.
Trade Cooldown introduces that waiting period. After a copied trade opens or closes, MetaCopier can temporarily prevent new market entries on the same symbol.
You can also extend the idea with custom correlation groups. This matters because exposure is not always isolated to one instrument. EURUSD and GBPUSD are different symbols, for example, but both include exposure to the US dollar. Depending on your strategy, you may want related instruments to share a cooldown instead of treating each one independently.
Trade Cooldown does not decide whether the next trade is good or bad. It simply applies your timing rule consistently across the copier.
Trade Copying Is Becoming More Context-Aware
Each of these updates addresses a different part of the trading workflow:
- AI integration makes it easier to interact with MetaCopier.
- The Economic Calendar highlights scheduled market events.
- Market News covers developments outside that schedule.
- News Filter controls new exposure around selected announcements.
- News Protection manages positions that are already open.
- Overall Target adds a longer-term account objective.
- Scheduled Close & Reopen automates recurring exposure windows.
- Trade Cooldown controls how quickly one position can follow another.
Together, they point to a broader shift in trade copying.
Traditional copying asks: The master took an action. Should that action be replicated?
A more capable copier also needs to ask:
- Should the trade be copied right now?
- Is a major economic announcement approaching?
- Does this account already have enough exposure?
- Should an open position remain in the market through the event?
- Are conditions suitable for reopening it afterward?
- Has a related trade just been executed?
- Has the account reached its objective?
These decisions should not always require manual input for every trade and every follower. As the number of managed accounts grows, consistent, predefined rules become increasingly valuable.
Automation Still Needs a Trading Plan
More automation does not automatically mean less risk. Every protective feature needs thoughtful configuration.
An overly aggressive news filter can block legitimate trades. A weak reopening rule can create exposure in conditions the strategy was never designed for. A cooldown that is too long can materially change the behavior of a high-frequency strategy.
The goal is to translate an existing trading policy into repeatable rules, not to enable controls simply because they are available.
Before configuring these features, consider a few basic questions:
- Which economic events genuinely matter to your strategy?
- How long before and after those events should trading be restricted?
- Should existing positions stay open during those events?
- Under what conditions should a closed position reopen?
- Which symbols should be treated as correlated?
- Which short- and long-term account limits should apply?
Once you have made those decisions, MetaCopier can apply them consistently across the relevant accounts. That consistency matters even more as a setup grows from a handful of accounts to dozens or hundreds.
A More Complete Trading Environment
MetaCopier began with a straightforward goal: copy trades reliably between trading accounts. That remains at the heart of the platform.
Reliable trade copying, however, increasingly requires more than moving orders from one account to another. Traders also need timely information, risk controls, scheduling, monitoring, and efficient ways to manage complex account structures.
These latest additions bring those pieces closer together. The Economic Calendar shows you what is coming. Market News helps you follow what is happening. News Filter and News Protection let predefined rules respond to scheduled events. Overall Target, Scheduled Close & Reopen, and Trade Cooldown provide more control over account behavior.
With the new MCP integration, many of these capabilities can also be accessed through a conversation with your preferred AI assistant.
The result is a more context-aware trade copying environment—one that can respond to the conditions around a trade while keeping the rules and permissions firmly in your hands.
